Neo-Zelander Mustangs

In 1945, it was convened that the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) would receive 370 Mustangs, including P-51Ms, to complement its Corsairs in the Pacific combat zone. Only the first thirty P-51Ds were delivered, arriving after the end of the war. They were stocked and later used in the Territorial Air Force's four reserve squadrons until 1955. The last New Zealander Mustang, used as a target tow, was retired in 1957.
