Swiss Mustangs

Switzerland used a American P-51B from the 335th FS which had suffered a forced landing in Swiss territory in July 1944. In 1948, the Flugwaffe ordered 100 F-51D from US surplus stocks, as a stop-gap replacement to its Me 109s while awaiting for British Vampire FB.6s. Eventually the P-51 remained in Swiss service until April 1958.

J-2003 was P-51D-20-NA s/n 44-72350. This is how the aircraft looked just after delivery to the Swiss AF.

Can you help us write this article ? We are looking for any data concerning the P-51 in Swiss service: articles, photographs, records, etc. Thanks for your help.
