Urban Drew's "Detroit Miss"

This is P-51D-10-NA #44-14164, which was flown by Urban Drew of the 361st FG, 375th FS in 1944. Urban Drew scored six victories in this aircraft, plus one on the ground. On 7 October 1944, he shot down two Me 262 in one mission, but his wingman disappeared and his gun camera malfunctioned so he was not credited with the kills. It was not until 1983 that the kills were confirmed, and Urban Drew became one of two pilots to receive the Air Force cross for actions in World War II.
