James Gasser's "Muddy"

P-51K-5-NT 44-11697 belonged to the 362nd Fighter Squadron of the 357th Fighter Group and was flown by Lt. James A. Gasser. It was nicknamed "Muddy", the pilot's mother. The bar over the K indicates that it was the second aircraft to receive the letter in the squadron, and the aircraft was therefore referred to as "K bar". This aircraft surviced the war but was scrapped in in England in December 1945.
